I posted an ad on craigslist selling my Ipad 4th generation 64gb for $500. This individual contacted me by text messages wanting to purchase it and that he would pay for it and shipping. He wanted me to ship it to his fiancé's address and he would pay for it through paypal. I received an email stating that $600 was deposited into my paypal account. I then received an email explaining to me that I needed to go ship the item and respond to email [email protected] with tracking number and then the money would be credited to my paypal account. I went and shipped the item and emailed the tracking number. I then received an email that they could not verify the tracking number with the post office and to call back later and that I needed to provide them with a copy of the receipts from the post office. So I took a picture and sent it to the email listed. I responded to there email a little while later asking when I would get my money due to you could track the package. Sometime later I received an email stating that the tracking # and package had been verified and they were verifying my transaction ID and that the money would be credited into my paypal account 24-48 hours from the time they had sent the email. The whole time I had been randomly checking my paypal account and no money had been credited. So late last night I started having this feeling something wasn't right and I searched on the Paypal website about how they work and it stated that they never ask the seller to ship the item and provide tracking number without the item being paid for and the money in your account. I then started reading some of the comments in the community posts and came across several stories of the same situation with items being shipped to Nigeria and the whole Paypal emails and they were all scams of people shipping an item and providing tracking number but no money was credited to there Paypal account. So I responded to there email stating that I was stopping the package from being delivered and I was reporting them to Paypal. I then receive an email today stating that they are sorry for the inconvenience of the money being credited into account due to a temporary crediting delay on there accounts and that the money would be credited into my account in 24 hours. I tried having the package stopped through the United States Postal but it had already left the United States and they can not stop it once it leaves the United States. I also looked up the Nigerian postal and sent them am email asking for there help to intercept this package and help me get it back since this was a scam.Show more...
