I received a pop up audio message telling me my computer had a virus and was in danger of having my personal information being stolen remotely. When I called the number provided they immediately had access to my computer and said they could fix it. They were on my computer "fixing" it remotely. Afterward they put an invoice on my desktop for $199.00 and said I could send a paper check They said they would send FedEx for a pick up the next day. When I went to the bank I was talking to the teller about getting a cashier check for this "repair" he told me he had some other customers that had gone through the same situation. He called a phone number the tech company gave me and it was disconnected. He called another number and the person didn't seem to know anything about helping with a computer virus. I took my computer to a reputable PC repair company to be reimaged. When the FedEx delivery person came for the pickup I told him what happened and did not give him a check.Show more...
