I published with Green Ivy Publishing company in 2014 on my first book "Confession's of a single mom" and paid out over $6,900 dollars along with 6 mons extra additional of $350.00 and I never received any royalties, no book nothing. I was informed yesterday through KDP that over 10,000 people have bought my book and I have not received the royalties off of it. Would really like my money back. I see I am not the only one that was scammed.

As an unrepresented author who was trying to get her first children’s book published, Green Ivy Publishing painted an incredibly enticing picture. For $3,995 they would take care of the illustrations, print and distribute my book, convert to an ebook, and take care of the copyright and ISBN. Also, I would receive 100% of royalties until I made back the ‘investment’ then it would be an 80/20% split. This seemed fair, and at the time I found little to no negative reviews. That was December 26, 2016. For the first few months everything was going very well, and my excitement grew. Then, I was told once a week every week for a month that my illustrations would be to me for approval by the end of the week. Finally, I was asked to select an illustration style. That was May 9, 2017, and that was the last time I heard from this company. Emails and voicemails are left unanswered. Per the contract, the publisher was supposed to fulfill all contractual responsibilities within six (6) months. That is in 4 days. Now, Google’s business profile is showing the company has ‘permanently closed’ even though I can still call and email. In fact their bookstore on their website is still functioning.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Their contract prohibits lawsuits, states that all disputes are to be handled with binding arbitration. How am I to go through arbitration if the company has closed?

I paid Green Ivy Publishing 3000. dollars to illustrate, market and print on demand for sales of my children's book. Upon completion they sent me one email telling me total book sales for 3 months prior and one royalty check for 24.00. I have not received any further sales reports (emails) or royalties. I know my book is selling because I track on Amazon, and Facebook. And those are just the two I can track. It is listed on many other websites.

I paid Green Ivy $3,500 to publish my book this included editing, cover design, e-book conversion, production, and promotion on near 40,000 different online retailers.

I found out that my book had been poorly edited. It had about or more than a hundred grammar errors in it. They have been selling my basically unedited book. I also learned that an author can track their own book sales on Amazon. Green Ivy's monthly sales reports were not matching my sales.

I found at the time of my research for a publisher that Green Ivy had very little complaints and they were located in the USA. Other publishers were in the Philippines, or other out of the USA Island nations. Was told that for $3,000.00 they would professionally edit my manuscript and set it up in a professional book manner. I am a disabled combat vet on a pension. My wife and I along with having to raise two of our grandchildren were drawing food stamps in order to feed ourselves. I sent $200.00 each month until the total was met. I received a receipt or each payment. After completing all payments. I began waiting for a finished product. This was 11/2014. I was sent my manuscript for refining about 4 times. Finally about four months ago my book was being published. Two months ago I was told that I would be receiving 10 free copies of my book. Seems, I paid $300.00 per book at this rate. I found my book on two foreign web-sites for sell. One in the Italian(?) language. So far no ten (10) books and no telephone calls returned??? Talking about tearing one's dreams apart. During the time the first book was being prepared, I wrote a second novel which is almost finished. I am 70 years of age and my health is being challenged!

I agree Kathryn. I am a senior citizen and I took my $3000 out of my 401K as an investment NOT to use it on a vanity press. I don't know about the rest of you but I really don't have that kind of money to waste. Angelica told me also that she had a sick child. My only problem with her was that when she didn't respond to my emails I had no clue she wasn't there. I would have thought someone else would have filled in for her.

Most of us don't. type in copyright online catalog search into the search engine. Look for the result that says description not available due to the sites robots. Enter the title or your name to check for your copyright.

I think Angelica got another job. She had a child who was sick from what she told me when I was submitting my manuscript for consideration. I worked with some very nice people. I am proud of my book but in hindsight if I had given $3,000 to my cousin who lost both legs and had third degree burns all over her body she would be so much ahead with things she needs to continue to live independent of others. Thank you Frances. Not answering our calls and not returning email and not a single accounting of book sales -- there is no excuse. It is stealing from the hopeful new authors who keep them in business.

This weekend I was at a craft show and talked with 2 published authors that were selling their books. I am of the opinion that this type of scam is pretty widespread. So if it makes you feel any better we are among a lot of unhappy want to be authors.

Angelica was also my adviser and I was told by her that if I needed anything she would be there to help. Ok, so when I started having all these issues I repeatedly tried to reach her with no response. I then contacted Jay who was the one who signed me up and eagerly accepted my money. He then told me that Angelica had been very sick. Well, it would have been nice to have known that instead of just being ignored all that time. Did no one do her job for her while she was out? I recently emailed her again just to try one more time but as you can guess, I got no answer from her.

    kathryn Faulkner

    Jun 23, 2017 10:53 PM

Thank you for telling what happened to you. All of us paid in good faith as they said they would not take any royalty until we were paid in full first. That meant a lot to me. I trusted them. They lied. They took it all and continue each book that is sold to take it all.

    kathryn Faulkner

    Jun 23, 2017 10:50 PM

The only good thing that has come from having a book is that even though I have not been paid that I hope all who buy and read the book will see what a strong person my cousin is and how her message of forgiveness is so powerful and that she loves God and wants to share her faith. The proceeds would have helped her so much. I feel like I let her down. I told the world her story and she gets nothing from Green Ivy. How do they sleep at night knowing they have mistreated so many hopeful first time authors who paid them???

    kathryn Faulkner

    Jun 23, 2017 10:33 PM

I wrote my book, Reborn: Standing on the Promises about my first cousin who is a double amputee with third degree burns on her entire body, yet she takes care of herself. I have so much admiration for her that all proceeds from the book were to help her. Not one cent received. Makes me sick. Ten months now. No return on phone calls, no reply to emails. There has to be something we can do. I don't think Angelica Perilli is with Green Ivy any longer. She was the person I had first contact with.

    kathryn Faulkner

    Jun 23, 2017 10:30 PM

Same thing is happening to me. Ten months after my book was published by Green Ivy. Not even the first royalty or statement. No returned phone calls. No reply to countless emails to anyone I had contact with while getting my book finished.

    Frances Pitts

    Jun 11, 2017 9:23 PM

Have any of you visited the Green Ivy Facebook page recently? Nothing has been added to it by them for quite a while. Also, if you attempt to post a comment on there that may not be cheery and loving their company IT WILL NOT POST. So, if new people do like I did in the beginning, look to see what people thought about the company all they would see are complementary comments. I don't know about the rest of you but I do not have almost $3,000. to waste. I was not looking for a vanity press. I now think that this is what Green Ivy is.

    Frances Pitts

    May 07, 2017 7:19 PM

I signed with Green Ivy in August of 2016. My book was published and on sale by November 2016. When I received my book I was thrilled. The cover was great and I was happy with my story. I was told that I would receive a royalty and sales report in 90 days (give or take) Now it's May 2017 over 180 days later NOTHING. Not one report or one red cent. No one returns my calls or emaisl except Darleen Havel who responded to say to contact the royalty and sales department which I had already done 5 times before. They never responded at all. Does anyone know what kind of lawyer would handle something like this? Do we have any rights considering they did not do what they agreed to in our contract? There is a part of the contract that almost sounds as if they expected to be sued. What hurts me the most is that I keep thinking about how many other first time authors are falling for the same thing we did. This company must be making a killing on this.

It is a law firm that is owned by bob gray. The owner of green ivy publishing. I know he is the owner of both companies, because on the copyright for king cat's cafe his name robert gray and the gray law group ltd are listed as owning the rights and permissions where green ivy publishing should be.

Same issues. No royalties paid. No correspondence. Please befriend me on FB if anyone wants to share what we do next as a group of authors who have been scammed? Identify yourself as being concerned with Green Ivy legality issues so I will know who you are. I agree, Rena Larry, that Darlene was the only one who truly helped me, my book had so many errors when it went to print and she truly did her best to work with me to get out a revision a few months later.. But now, no phone numbers I have nor emails are responded to by anyone at this company!

    Mar 09, 2017 10:03 PM

I had paid green ivy to edit, pictures, and covers. I ended up doing my own artwork because the art department had no idea how to draw a chipmunk, second they did not have any idea for a cover so I did them, next I find out they lied to me about sales, never sent any reports or information about my book. They told me they had over 25000 online retailers to sell my book, another lie. They just began totally ignoring my phone calls or emails. Darlene was the only one that attempted to help. Jay was rude Angelica ignored and never acknowledged any contact whether it was a call or email. I did most all of the work just to find out that this "Gray Law Group" has pretty much taken my rights of sales on my book. Would appreciate any help for everyone to be reimbursed by these scammers. There were several people that joined the green ivy leaguers after me. From what I have seen they paid much more than they hit me for. Jay Caliendo, Angelica Perilli and this so called attorney Bob Gray should be made to reimburse everyone.
