Company gets your Medicare ID and promises to see if you qualify for a DNA test for cancer, paid for by Medicare. Medicare says this is a scam. I reported this to the FTC and applied for a new Medicare card. The company advertises on Facebook.

I just received a call from HAP and gave them my information. I was suspicious and found this site after the fact. I did call the 386 phone number that they used to call me. As someone reported below, the number was not a working number. I reported the scam to Medicare. Go onto the Medicare official website and you will find a link for reporting Medicare fraud. I hope this helps someone else.

I just did the same thing and there's no information other than being directed to Medicare online. Where do I officially report that I have been scammed?

Patricia, most health insurance plans will cover the cost of genetic testing when recommended by a physician. However, all coverage is subject to Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer benefit plans. Our billing department verifies everything before a test is being conducted. Meaning, if there is any out of pocket expense, we will notify you before running the test and give you different options, including cash pay. Here is a link to another source of information for you to read. https://www.wired.com/story/with-medicare-support-genetic-cancer-testing-goes-mainstream/.

Have been contacted by HAP several times since I filled out their online questionnaire. First contact, I had to ask to c/b as I was in a dr's appt. They didn't, so I called them. The # came back as no longer in service. Now, I get msgs from them with different #s given. The one I received today, I called. Asked for the specific person and ext given. It was never answered, and no VM. Also, I asked the person who answered first who I was calling. All she said, very curtly, was, 'HAP. ' this does not make me feel good about this company/site.will research further.

I accessed up the website listed in the above response by HAP, https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/diagnostic-laboratory-tests, and could not get anything relating to this testing to pull up. You need to give enough detailed info to prove your point. What key words are you using to get proof of coverage to pull up?
