We got what looked to be a legitimate warning on our computer that there appeared to be a problem and to call the number listed. The guy impersonated a Microsoft Employee - went onto my computer remotely - after a time he said we had a Trojan Horse that they could not fix as the culprits had control over IP number. He told me I would have to go to a Network specialty Co...even gave several choices, with ratings, plans, and prices. Stupidly, I agreed because I was so worried about someone controlling our whole computer system. They got my bank information and said it would take about an hour to fix. I watched as the "Technician" showed graphs and things running. Then he called back to say it was fixed, To night I had two messages - the first too garbled to understand anything past his name - Mike - billing department at VectorSage - the supposed network specialty company. The second message was clearer and I got the same info. but it cut off in the middle. I tried calling the number they gave me and get a recording that says "This account is not valid." And I cannot find a company by that name by searching on computer. They took us for $2,000!!!Show more...
